Welcome to the very first Malone Street Studios blog post! This is the beginning – a huge day for me as it has taken me years to make the leap.
I’ve always enjoyed art and began self-teaching myself how to drawn and paint in middle school. Since then, it has been a journey filled with learning experiences, wonderful teachers, opportunities, and support from peers and loved ones. You can read a little bit more about my journey as an artist here.
Within the most recent years, the social media world has opened my eyes to even more artistic avenues – chalk and milk painted furniture finds, DIY projects galore, hosting celebrations and parties, and the list goes on and on.
And thanks to my daily reading list of blogs and their creators (whom I consider friends in my artistic mind, even though I have yet to meet one in person!), I finally found the inspiration and courage to launch one of my own.
I am so grateful, and feel so lucky and blessed to be here – at my very own starting point. From here, I believe anything is possible for Malone Street Studios. I know there will be some bumps along the way, but I am ready to take on the challenge. And I know that there will be moments of pure happiness and joy (I know this, because I feel so as I’m writing this very first post!), and that I will always be dreaming up more ideas and chasing those dreams until they become a reality.
Most importantly, I have faith in Y-O-U. The guests and readers of Malone Street Studios. I welcome you to my world with the greatest hope in mind – that you too will be inspired to conquer your own fears and doubts, and MAKE something of your dreams. Whether it’s painting, drawing, making over a room, organizing a craft group, hosting a party, starting a business – I know you have potential. We all do.
Thank you to all my family and friends for your love and support. Without it, I could not have made it to this point.
And thank you for my creative branding team at Bliss and Tell – for helping me dream up an image, a look and feel, for Malone Street Studios – and making it a reality.
And thank you in advance to all of you for visiting my page. My comments box and inbox are always welcome to your thoughts and questions!
From the beginning, there is always so much to look forward to. Here is what you can look forward to at Malone Street Studios:
live like you’re lucky. love your home. celebrate life’s moments.
I believe each day is a gift, and we should live each day to its fullest. Now, when I was younger and I heard that phrase – live life to its fullest – I envisioned I should be climbing mountains, swimming rivers and fulfilling life’s adventures. Now that I am older, and realize that life comes with a load-full of responsibilities, some good, some tedious. I realize now that, to me at least, living each day to the fullest means maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle. Finding a work and life balance. Appreciating the little things in life, and not taking anything for granted. That is just my definition that I have applied to my life. And don’t get me wrong – some days, I get down, and some days I let myself be lazy, and I know I’ve taken things for granted before, but each day I live and learn. I’m not perfect, and neither is life. But it sure does offer a lot.
So when budgets are tight, and resources are minimal, I try to make the most of what I have. I take advantage of estate sales and Craigslist finds. Sometimes something will sit and wait awhile until I dream up exactly what I want to do with it – my better half just loooooves this;) .
If I am perusing down the street, and a there is a wooden dresser on the side of the road, missing some knobs, I see an opportunity to breathe some life back into it with a little bit of paint, elbow grease and some extra hardware.
And if I am going to host a party, I try to recycle decorations, and research Pinterest to find DIY centerpieces or banners to add some festive touches to the celebration.
I love finding purpose in other odds and ends and turning them into something completely different, like taking an old headboard and turning it into a hand painted sign. Or transforming a galvanized trashcan lid into a clock with a little bit of paint and a clock kit from the craft store.
If you look hard enough, you can find potential and purpose in everything!
live like you’re lucky will be filled with DIY projects, furniture flips, and more to provide you with inspiration to take what you have and make the most of it! Malone Street Studios will also feature Steals and Deals – giveaways of handmade items and featured pieces from other artists.
Just as life is filled with its ups and downs, and little imperfections that make it a beautiful journey, so do our houses, rooms and apartments. Maybe your house is a little outdated and could use some sprucing up. Or maybe you have an oddly shaped rooms that you have no idea what to do with! It’s amazing what a few gallons of fresh paint will do, or how a few simple toss pillows can really bring a space together. Envision what you would love to come home to at the end of each day, and the space in which you and your loved ones will make memories to last a lifetime, and make those dreams a reality!
love your home will be filled with renovating and styling tips, and ideas of how you can make a house feel like home.
Life is also filled with soooo many milestones – birthdays, engagements, new babies (my favorite), new additions to a family – whether a person or a furry friend, accomplishments, new jobs. Celebrate these moment’s with you and your loved ones. Take the chance to really soak it all up and spend time with each other to make that moment even more special.
celebrate life’s moments will be filled with hosting tips, ideas from celebrations Malone Street Studios will host, and paintings and signs that symbolize those people, things and moments we celebrate in life.
I’m at the beginning of a long and exciting journey, and I am so happy to have you each along my side. Thank you again for visiting!
So here I am. I’m going to make the leap. And I know this first leap will only bring more leaps. And I know I will be ready for those when they come.
live. love. celebrate
